Tres grandes radioaficionados y QRPeros
Estos son los «tres grandes de la radioafición». De izquierda a derecha: Doug DeMaw, W1FB (SK), Wes Hayward, W7ZOI, y
Byron Goodman, W1DX (SK), en una fotografía tomada en 1972. De todos los cacharreros y QRPeros es conocida la inmensa y
prácticamente inigualable aportación de Doug y Wes, sin embargo, la aportación, también inmensa de Byron es menos conocida.
Pues bien, bastará decir que en Enero de 1.948, Byron comenzó a publicar una serie de artículos en QST. El primero
de ellos se titulaba: "What is Single-Sideband Telephony?" (¿Que es la telefonía en banda lateral única?). Si, Byron fue el
principal divulgador de la SSB y posiblemente el mayor responsable de que los transceptores de SSB sean hoy legión, y además
de una colección de artículos divulgativos de una calidad irrepetible, aparte de otros muchísimos méritos.
En palabras de Wes, W7ZOI, el único superviviente hoy de los tres:
"Aunque ellos hayan muerto, nosotros continuaremos en recuerdo a su contribución".

contributed a vast amount to the QRP world, however, Byron's contribution is less well known.
In January 1948, Byron began to publish some articles in the QST magazine.
The first article was: "What is Single-Sideband Telephony?". Byron was the
first to make known the SSB and possibly the reason that we now have SSB transceivers.
He also wrote a collection of great articles, as well as having many other merits.
Wes, W7ZOI, the only survivor said: "Even though they died, we continue working with their
contribution in mind".
